Ciao Italia!

In less than one month, students and faculty from John Tyler Community College and Central Virginia Community College will be in Venice–right there at the Rialto, maybe even in the gondola but that sounds outrageously expensive . . . and romantic. One thing is certain, we will have explored the history and culture of Italy from the time of the Romans to the Baroque period in a weeklong lecture blitz and will have embarked on a journey that will take us from Virginia to Rome, Ostia Antica,  Assisi, Padua, Verona, Venice, Vicenza, Florence, Fiesole, Siena, and back again to Rome. It will be a spectacular journey and a wonderful learning experience; we’d love to take you along–if only vicariously. Follow our blog and learn with us!

For starters, ponder the Flavian Amphitheater, a.k.a. the Roman Colosseum, and its construction. It’s a wonder!!
